U16 Medway vs GNG Gems

Stepping onto the court for their second match in the top Medway division, Macklins U16 delivered an amazingly positive performance against a tough GNG Gems side. With new players seamlessly blending into the squad and experienced players showing fantastic leadership, this 18-30 result showcased a highly resilient team truly coming together and working toward their ultimate end goal!

Quarter 1 (6-10) GNG Gems came out strong to take an early lead, but the Macklins squad stepped right up to the challenge in this top-division clash. The girls found their rhythm quickly, showing brilliant cohesion and setting a fiercely competitive tone from the very start!

Quarter 2 (11-15) Macklins put up a phenomenal fight in the second quarter, matching the intensity and keeping the pressure high to bring the halftime score to a close 11-15. The experienced players really stepped up their leadership on the court, brilliantly guiding the newer squad members through an intense 20 minutes!

Quarter 3 (14-21) GNG Gems pushed hard after the break to widen the gap to 14-21, but Macklins absolutely refused to drop their heads or their energy. The squad worked tirelessly across the court, fighting for every single ball and proving their immense resilience against a formidable opponent!

Quarter 4 (18-30) Leaving everything out there, Macklins battled right to the final whistle to close out the match at a hard-fought 18-30. Despite the loss on the scoreboard, the overall performance was absolutely amazing, making us all super proud of the incredible teamwork and rapid progress on display today!

Players of the Match: Lily (GS) & Poppy (GD) We had two incredibly deserving winners this week who shone brilliantly at opposite ends of the court! Lily was absolutely outstanding at Goal Shooter, brilliantly holding her shooting position to consistently convert the team's hard work into goals. Meanwhile, Poppy stepped up massively at Goal Defence, working incredibly hard in the defensive circle to rack up a huge number of crucial interceptions and rebounds!
