Our Macklins Senior Team kicked off their summer league campaign in spectacular style, securing a fantastic win over a determined and spirited Soarers side. After a challenging winter season, the squad stepped onto the court with renewed energy, big smiles, and a clear hunger to get back to winning ways.

Match Breakdown: Quarter by Quarter

• Quarter 1 (11 - 7 to Macklins): The team flew out of the blocks! Setting a fantastic tempo from the first centre pass, Macklins showed brilliant early connection across the court. Soarers put up a strong defensive front, but our attackers found their rhythm quickly to establish a solid four-goal lead.
• Quarter 2 (20 - 13 to Macklins): Building on that early momentum, Macklins pushed the pace. The through-court transition was looking slick, and everyone worked tirelessly to provide options on the ball. Soarers kept the pressure high, but we extended our lead beautifully heading into halftime.
• Quarter 3 (29 - 18 to Macklins): Often the "championship quarter," Macklins really put their foot down here. The defensive pressure created vital turnovers, and the attack capitalized brilliantly. A phenomenal 11-goal advantage gave us a brilliant cushion, showcasing the sheer work rate of the entire squad.
• Final Quarter (36 - 29 to Macklins): Huge credit to Soarers, who never let their heads drop and fought back valiantly in the final fifteen minutes, actually outscoring us in this quarter! However, the foundation Macklins had built in the first 45 minutes was simply too strong to shake. We held our nerve, controlled the pace, and closed out a brilliant 36-29 victory.

A massive shoutout to our Player of the Match, Ella, who was absolutely electric at Goal Attack! Her movement in and around the shooting circle was dynamic, her link-up play was flawless, and she kept the scoreboard ticking over beautifully. A truly standout performance to start the summer!
