U16 vs Comets 2

So much praise is deserved for our junior U16 team today! Taking home their second win out of just three games this season, this newly formed squad is proving to be a fantastic for the club. They are gelling together beautifully, and today's performance against Comets 2 is proof of all their hard work and growing team chemistry.

Setting a strong tone from the very first whistle, our starting seven saw Natalia taking charge in GK and Poppy at GD anchoring the defence, supported by Lydia at WD. In the mid-court engine room, Chloe stepped up at C alongside Isobel at WA, working seamlessly to feed our attacking duo of Layla at GA and Izzy at GS.

Quarter 1: Macklins absolutely exploded out of the blocks! The connections across the court were brilliant right from the start, allowing the team to take a commanding early lead of 8-1.

Quarter 2: The dominance continued into the second quarter. The defensive end locked down the Comets' shooters while our attackers kept the scoreboard ticking over, extending the lead to an impressive 16-2 by halftime.

Quarter 3: Comets 2 fought back hard after the break and found their rhythm, but our U16s kept their composure and matched their energy to head into the final break with a solid 18-7 advantage.

Quarter 4: (Final): A fantastic push to the finish line! The team closed out the game with confidence and great game management, securing a brilliant 23-12 victory.

There are so many positives to take away from this match. Seeing a new team connect so well this early in the season is incredibly exciting for the future!

Just as importantly, they never forgot their defensive responsibilities, working incredibly hard to win crucial turnovers that kept the momentum in Macklins' favour.
